Ultra Marine

Installation at L.A.C.E. Gallery
Los Angeles, California

Commissioned by L.A.C.E. Gallery’s executive director, the challenge was to transform the main gallery space into a public plaza for summer programming. Ultra Marine is an immersive environment of iridescent color, a massive cloud of delicate undulations. The title refers both to the color of the piece and to its meaning: beyond the sea. The installation produces the physical sensation one feels when gazing at a cool body of water. Like the sea, its surface appears to be in a constant state of flux as the fabric curls and drapes in unexpected ways.
