Fluid
Performance: Voxel Organization of Fluid Dynamics
Dylan MurphyThis project explores an alternative disciplinary stance towards water, replacing that of risk management and mitigation, the paradigm too heavily relied upon by engineers and manufacturers to keep buildings water-tight and landscapes free from flooding. This pragmatism fails to recognize water’s climactic, cultural, energy producing, and performative capacity. This design for a High School in Seattle, Washington, embraces these facets of water, internalizing water as central to the atmosphere and aesthetics of the built environment and expressing water’s mechanization, fluid dynamics and the various forms of life it supports.
