Beginning with a uniform field pattern we began looking at ways of representing the linework of the pattern in a way that could represent virtual materiality. Similar to the way a sculptor can represent fabric in stone we are looking at ways of exploiting the elasticity of and versatility of the superformed aluminum panel. In contrast with the ephemeral approach to the linework of the pattern is the way the panel edges are addressed. Our technique for the panel transition involves a system of tools that allow for the infinite alternation of the pattern across the field.
